Faith-Based Renewal Plan for Inmates

  1. Purpose

To transform inmates’ thinking and behavior through spiritual renewal, biblical truth, and practical life application—helping them rediscover identity, hope, and purpose in Christ.

  1. Core Objectives
  1. Spiritual Formation – Teach biblical principles that renew the mind and heart.
  2. Identity Restoration – Help inmates see themselves as valuable and loved by God.
  3. Behavioral Change – Replace destructive habits with Christ-centered living.
  4. Community Building – Foster accountability and support through fellowship.

I. Key Components

  1. Biblical Teaching & Discipleship
  • Weekly Bible studies focused on:
    • Renewing the mind (Romans 12:2)
    • Forgiveness and grace
    • Purpose and calling
  • Small group discipleship for deeper engagement.
  1. Prayer & Worship
  • Daily prayer opportunities.
  • Corporate worship services led by chaplains or trained volunteers.
  • Prayer partners for accountability.
  1. Counseling & Mentorship
  • Christian counseling integrated with mental health support.
  • One-on-one mentorship with trained volunteers or chaplains.
  • Peer-led support groups for encouragement.
  1. Life Skills Through Scripture
  • Classes on:
    • Conflict resolution (Matthew 18 principles)
    • Financial stewardship (Proverbs)
    • Healthy relationships (Ephesians 5, 1 Corinthians 13)

  • Sessions on forgiveness and breaking cycles of anger and shame.

Week 3: Breaking Strongholds

  • Activities: Prayer for breaking lies; create a “Truth List” from Scripture.

Week 4: Forgiveness and Healing

Week 5: Purpose and Calling

Week 6: Overcoming Temptation

Week 7: Emotional Healing

  • Theme: Managing anger, fear, and anxiety.

Week 8: Building Healthy Relationships

Week 1: Identity in Christ

    • How does this truth change how you see yourself?
  • Activity: Write down 5 truths about who you are in Christ.
  • Homework: Memorize 2 Corinthians 5:17; journal “Who I am in Christ.”

Week 2: Renewing the Mind

  • Objective: Teach the power of thoughts and biblical renewal.
  • Key Scripture: Romans 12:2
  • Discussion Questions:
    • What negative thoughts do you struggle with?
    • How can God’s Word replace those thoughts?
  • Activity: Identify 3 negative thoughts and replace them with Scripture.
  • Homework: Read Philippians 4:8 daily; write one positive truth each day.

Week 3: Breaking Strongholds
